Web sitenizde birbirinden güzel fotoğraflar kullanıyorsanız bu fotoğrafların sizin izniniz olmadan başka sitelerde de kullanılıyor olma ihtimali vardır. Daha da kötüsü bu web siteleri imajlara “hotlink” verir. Yani imajları kopyalayıp kendi sunucularına koymak yerine doğrudan sizin sunucunuz üzerinden kullanırlar. Böylelikle sadece sizin telif haklarınızı ihlal etmekle kalmaz, aynı zamanda kendi sitelerinde gösterdikleri imajların bant genişliği ücretini de sizin ödemenizi sağlarlar.

Eğer web siteniz apache üzerinde koşuyorsa bu sorundan kurtulmak için aşağıda saydığım basit adımları izlemeniz yeterli olacaktır.

Sistem Gereksinimleri

Bu makalede anlatılan çözüm sitenizin apache web sunucusu üzerinde olmasını gerektirmektedir. Aynı zamanda servis sağlayıcınızın .htaccess dosyası kullanarak varsayılan sunucu konfigürasyonuna müdahale etmenize izin veriyor olmalı. Sunucu konfigürasyonlarına ilgi duyanlar için: bu teknik apache’nin mod_setenvif modülünde sunulan imkanlardan faydalanmaktadır.

Eğer web sunucunuz bu gereksinimleri karşılamıyor ise umutsuzluğa kapılmayın, ileriki bir tarihte PHP ve ASP kullanarak bu işlemi nasıl yapacağınız ile ilgili bir makale yayınlayacağım.

Adım Adım Yapılacaklar

İmajlarınızı .htaccess dosyası kullanarak korumak çok kolaydır.

1. Koruma altına almak istediğiniz tüm imajları (bant genişliği anlamında) ayrı bir klasörde toplayın ve bu klasör adını not edin.
2. Kullanmaya alışık olduğunuz herhangi bir düz metin editörü kullanarak yeni bir dosya açın ve aşağıdaki metini kopyalayıp bu dosyaya yapıştırın.

   “alan-adiniz.com” kısmını kendi alan adınız ile değiştirin. Web sitenize başka adresler kullanarak da ulaşılabiliyor ise (örneğin www.alan-adiniz.net ya da www.alan-adiniz.com.tr) her biri için SetEnvIfNoCase Referer satırını koymayı unutmayın. Aksi halde bu alan adlarından imajlarınıza ulaşmazsınız. İşiniz bitince dosyayı “.htaccess” ismi ile kaydedin. Unutmayın, ismi olduğu gibi, başında nokta karakteri ile yazmalısınız.

3. Oluşturduğunuz .htaccess dosyasını imajlarınızın bulunduğu klasöre yükleyin.

Hepsi bu kadar. .htaccess dosyanız “.gif”, “.png”, “.jpg” ve “.jpeg” uzantılı tüm dosyalarınızı koruyacaktır. Dosyayı Microsoft Word veya Wordpad gibi zengin metin editörleri ile değil notepad gibi düz metin editörü kullanarak açmanız ve kaydetmeniz gerektiğini unutmayın.

Açıklama: .htaccess ile Yetkisiz İmaj Kullanımını Önlemek

Bir tarayıcı web sunucunuza ne zaman bir imaj için istek gönderse, aynı zamanda o imajın bağlı olduğu sayfanın URL’ini de gönderir. Üstte bahsettiğimiz .htaccess dosyası sunucunun bu URL’i kontrol etmesini sağlar ve eğer isteği yapan sayfa belirttiğiniz yetkilendirilmiş URL’lerden biri ise sunucu “locally_linked” adı verilen çevresel bir değişken tanımlar. Gönderilen URL eğer yetkilendirilmiş bir URL değil ise bu çevresel değişken tanımlanmaz. Aynı zamanda kodda da görebileceğiniz gibi “locally_linked” değişkenini herhangi bir URL çağırılmadığında da tanımlıyoruz. (SetEnvIfNoCase Referer “^$” locally_linked=1) Sitenize erişmeye çalışan kişi URL’i gizleyen bir proxy arkasında olduğu zamanlarda böyle bir yöntem hayat kurtarıcı olacaktır.

Daha sonra sunucu talep edilen dosyanın uzantısını tanımlı değerlerle karşılaştırır (gif, png, jpg ve jpeg). Eşleşiyor ise ve “locally_linked” değişkeni tanımlanmışsa imajı gösterir, değilse bir hata mesajı döner.

Bant Genişliği Hırsızı İmajınıza Link Verdiğinde Ne Olur

.htaccess dosyasını yaratmanızın ardından, eğer başka bir site imajlarınıza bağlantı veriyor ise ya da vermeye çalışırsa, görecekler ki imajlar görüntülenmiyor. Diğer taraftan imajların sizin sitenizde görüntülenmesinde hiç bir sorun yaşanmayacaktır.

Potansiyel Problemler

Bu metod HTTP_REFERER değişkeni üzerine kurulmuştur. (yönlendirme yapılan adresi içeren değişken) Bu değişken düzgün bir şekilde web sunucusuna iletilmez ise metod çalışmayacaktır. Modern tarayıcıların bir kısmı, bazı anonim web gezintisi proxyleri ve kişisel firewall’lar kullanıcının bu değişken üzerinde oynama yapmasına izin verir. Bu tarayıcılar ve proxyler ya kullanıcı tarafından düzenlenmiş değerler içeren HTTP_REFERER bilgisi taşır ya da hiç bir değer döndürmezler. Aynı zamanda zaman zaman yanlış HTTP_REFERER bilgisi döndüren problemli tarayıcılar da mevcuttur.

Böyle bir durum söz konusu olduğunda kullanıcı sizin sitenizde olsa dahi imajlarınızı göremeyecektir. (bu da sitenizde bozuk görüntüye yol açar) Aynı zamanda aynı ihtimal bu kullanıcının sizin imajlarınızı telif haklarınızı çalan hırsızın sitesinde görmesini de sağlayabilir.

Neyse ki böyle bir durumla karşılaşan kullanıcı sayısı oldukça az. Ancak yine de böyle bir olasılığın var olduğunuzu bilmeniz gerekir.

Fujitsu’nun 2008′den beri, Teknolojik Araştırma ve Geliştirme vakfı çatısı altında, Japonya Güvenlik Bakanlığı desteği ile 2.32 Milyon Dolar bütçeli bir sibersilah üzerinde çalıştığı bildiriliyor.

Sibersilah, Yomiuri’nun raporuna göre, Distributed Denial Of Service (DDoS) saldırılarının ve hedef bilgisayarlardaki bilgiyi çalmaya yönelik saldırıların kaynaklarını yüksek tutarlılıkla tespit edebiliyor. DDoS saldırılarında saldırganlar hedefteki websitelerine inanılmaz yoğunlukta alakasız bilgi gönderiyor ve sonunda hizmeti daha fazla yerine getirememelerini sağlıyorlar.

Sibersilah sadece savunma için geliştiriliyor, ancak güvenlik uzmanları böyle bir aracın yanlış ellere geçmesinden ortaya çıkabilecek sorunlardan kaygı duyuyorlar.

Sophos Güvenlik Araştırmaları konu ile ilgili olarak

First of all, the price of this template is only $35, sold 885 times and got 5 stars from the 320 happy customers(03/29/2010). For a start, only with these information, statistics speaks for the template. But without drowning into numbers, lets check the features, and see if they are working as stated on the item description.

Feature 1 : Automatically generated xml from folders

One of the biggest problem about XML based templates is, even if it is easy to update the site with XML, it is not trivial. There are 3 steps involved in traditional XML based templates on the upload process.

1. uploading images,
2. editing your XML line by line to enter the image paths,
3. uploading the xml file.

But on this template, with the help of an integrated PHP script, updating steps are gone. You just upload your files to your images folder, and voila! The script automatically generates the required XML file and immediately affects your galleries. This means less time wasted and as time means money for most of us, it saves you money!

In addition, (it seems Chuckanucka forget to write it on the description) this template has another time saving feature. You don’t have to crop your images to create thumbnails if you don’t want to! Because this template automatically generates the thumbnails on-the-go.

Feature 2 : An amazing amount of configuration options via xml

Indeed, there are tons of configuration options that you can play with. To talk with numbers, there are +300 of em! Nobody, even Chuckanucka don’t know how much really! To say the truth, if you want to customize the template, and try to make it look unique, than it is just the right template for you. But i think having too many options is sometimes confusing for the customers and in my opinion that’s why there are 1680 comments on the files discussion board. Having said that, I have to admit that the author organized the file structure so well, the confusion fades away after you start to play with the options. Every module has its own well-structured configuration file.

Feature 3: Fully featured news page

It is really full of features. It has a built in auto summery feature so it cuts the long texts to show on the initial news page. But thanks to actionscript, it is not doing it randomly. The feature is so well applied that it never cut your words apart. Another  feature of the news section is the intelligent scrollbar. It is invisible when not needed. Pretty standard this one is. Then the HTML and CSS support comes.  With the aid of CSS, you can use links,bold, italics etc that has styles. Also, once i even integrated a video player feature in the news section, on that project, i see that the code is so well organized that i felt like i was modifying one of my own files. I am saying that this template is quite open for new feature additions.

Feature 4 : Gapless mp3 player with cookie to remember volume

The best thing about the mp3 player is, fade-in and fade-out while the changes between the tracks. The player is minimalist, maybe not suitable for a music industry website but does its job on other industries.  And also, with its intelligent setup, after visitor pauses it, it never gets to play without visitor wants so. That’s cool.

Feature 5 : 3 great mp3 loops from Trix-Music which load randomly (if you want)

Well, normally you pay for the loops! Also those loops are quite shooting and relaxing, your visitors will not be irritated while they are browsing.

Feature 6 : Super smooth gallery system – unlimited galleries and pictures

That’s the place to talk about the animations. I guess you already noticed the Windows XP logon screen resemblance, in fact that’s the only thing that i did not like about the template at first but later, after i get comforted with the smooth and well thought animations that negative feeling went away.  I added +60 galleries to test the “unlimited” claim and see that it is true.  Also added +100 pictures and template proved to be as stated.

Feature 7 : Clean code, section help file and LOTS of comments

This is one of the best things about the template. As i said before, it is really really easy to make changes in the code because of the volume of comments. For almost every 5 lines of code, there are 3 lines of comment. And whenever i got stuck, there were tons of documentation separately on every module. I modified this template for over 15 clients, every time it was quite easy no matter what client wished. Some clients wanted paypal shopping cart integration, some clients wanted video playback ability… Above everything the reason that i wanted to review this template first was just because i modified it so much.

Feature 8 : Php contact form with as you type validation

It is not like traditional contact forms, quite good. But there is one slight issue about the e-mail address verification. It only checks for the @ and the dot, it would be good to add checks for the domain extension.

Feature 9 : Dedicated support

Chuckanucka is really a man of his word. I see almost everyday he replies to the questions of his clients, tries to solve their possible problems about the file and most importantly, occasionally publishes an update that solves the reported problems, and add new features that the majority requests.

Conclusion :

This template has an overall score of 98/100 not only because of the bargain price, but also being so user friendly, easy to update, eye catching and having a wide scale of features.

As the my older visitors can notice, I updated my website with a total new look. This new website is based on wordpress with a stock template that i bought for $40 from themeforest named Display 3 in 1. Quite a bargain is’nt it? Kudos for the developer Kriesi. Also, my old website was a static template, i bought it from themeforest again, named Great Portfolio from the author  joefrey, i can not express my gratitude enough for that one also.

After 1 long year, i noticed that i needed a change in my website because i was starting to neglect updating it as it was difficult to do so with static HTML. In addition, i was having problems with strict XHTML as i was using flash pieces all around the portfolio for the sake of ease of update… Those days are over now with the help of wordpress magic. But anyway, i kept an archive, for the ones who want to see the older website, here.

From now on, i will try to keep my blog updated regularly with the industry news, reviews, tips & tricks, tutorials, traditional art and whatever i want to write about.

Also, with the new age that started with this gigantic update, I’m hoping to return to stock component development.

Whole project took  around 45 days to complete, was a fun and challenging task.The site has 4 main sections featuring Music Videos, Commercial Videos, Movie Trailers and Short Films. Although it looks like a community project, it is not. There is only one Site Manager that adds , removes, modifies the content. And her taste of videos is perfect.

As i said before, it was a challenging project because of the volume of the video pieces to be supported. The site is live for 3 months now, and there are already +1500 pieces on show and it is growing rapidly.

My responsibility was creating a design, converting it to a functioning newsletter application. As you can see from the preview image, it has 6 options consisting of;

• Importing E-mail addresses from a TXT file, and putting them to the database
• Managing E-mail addresses that are in the database (adding, deleting, modifying etc.)
• Sending Newsletters (It has two options, one is creating an e-mail via built in WYSIWYG editor, the other one is, uploading a premade HTML template)
• Setting up the administer (Username, Password, Import and Send Settings, Relay account settings etc.)
• Getting info and updates with just one click
• Loging out of the application.

My responsibility was designing and integrating a new CMS controlled application to current website. The application is listing 2 photos for each 20 contestants with their information that which is fed to the Flash with ASP3.0 & Ms Access. The visitors of the site can vote for the contestant to their taste. It has some strict limitations like not letting any visitor to vote twice (shared object and IP filter), also its security is very strict.
